Why does your hair turn gray or white?

Most people always make it a big deal when there hair starts to turn gray. Parent often say once there children get between to ages of 13-18 that there hair turns gray. Well , I'm going to tell that everything that they are saying about that is false .Did you know when you are first born your hair is white. Are you serious ? Yeah, your hair actual turns to its natural color from a pigment called melanin. The natural color of your hair depends on the formation of the pigment melanin which happens before birth. Hair on any living animal has two different types of pigment . The dark pigment is called eumelanin. The light pigment is called phaeomelanin. These to pigments have come to make many different hair colors. Well they were just interesting fact I thought you should know. Now let me tell you about why your hair turns gray. So, that most frequently asked question : Why does my hair turn gray or white is being researched by Dr. Desmond Tobin a professor of cell biology from the University of Bradford in England. Dr. Tobin suggests that the hair follicle in your hair as a "melanogentic clock" which slows down and stops melanocyte activity. Which all that is saying is that they is little or not any pigment at all getting to the hair follicle. The pigment stop usually right before the hair starts to shed or fall off. Also , getting gray or white hair can come from age and/or your genetics. The genes in your body can also regulates the distribution between pigment though out the hair follicles. With your genes affecting the distribution of pigment it can decrease the pigment distribution at any age. Scientist have also found out that there are some intrinsic and extrinsic factors that could affect the color of hair as well. Some intrinsic factors are genetic defects, hormones , body distribution and age . Also , some extrinsic factors are climate , pollution , toxins and chemical exposure. Stress can also play a role in causing people to get gray hairs. So the statement that most parents make about its there kids fault that they have gray hairs can be somewhat true only if they are causing them to stress out but for any other reason that is false. In today world there are many young people with gray hairs so parents can't also blame that on there children . In some ways they could blame it on themselves for having all of this stress. Also there is a study where scientist found that people with stressful job have gray hair earlier then people wit less stressful jobs. For intense they have found out that police officer and different people who work in the judicial system have more gray hairs then other. With that being said people who work in office buildings and places of that natural don't get gray hairs early in life as much as police officers would. With that being said now we know why most of your teachers have gray hair because we stress them out.
