Food Label Tricks

The food that I chose for this assignment are Hot Pockets, Turkey bacon and Cheetos twisted puffs. My calculations showed that Hot Pockets contained the highest amount of calories from fat at 108% . Hot pockets were also the highest in percent of calories from protein and carbohydrates both at 156% kcal. The turkey bacon was the healthiest food choice with 18% from fat, 0% calories from carbs and 0% calories from protein.

The serving size for the Hot pockets is one pocket which is realistic but I usually eat two.
The serving size for the turkey bacon is two slices which I don't think is realist, I usually eat five slices.
The serving size for the Cheetos is seven pieces which is unrealistic as I eat half a bag. :)
The difference in serving sizes do not really explain the nutritional values. The difference in serving sizes effects the nutritional contents of each item because the more portions in a serving size may decrease the nutritional value of the product. All the claims do refer to nutritional content, however some appear misleading as the Hot pockets and the Cheetos twisted puffs claim that they are made with real cheese when the ingredients prove that most of the "cheese" is artificial flavor. The calculations for the most part support the claims. As noted before the Hot pockets and the Cheetos twisted puffs claim that they are made with real cheese when the ingredients prove that most of the "cheese" is artificial flavor. For the Hot pockets the highest weight was sodium coming in at 630mgs. Same for the Turkey bacon coming in at 180mgs. Lastly, for the Cheetos the highest weight was also sodium coming to 300mgs, half of what the Hot Pockets were. The products list the ingredients in order from highest to lowest content.

Looking at my calculations, the Turkey bacon won the award for healthiest treat. YUMM. By far my beloved Hot pockets are sadly the losers, as they are the unhealthiest treat you could eat out of these three. The Cheetos however, are about half as healthy as the Hot pockets. So on the healthy scale Turkey bacon is number one, Twisted puffs are number two, and lastly Hot pockets are sadly number three.
