Why did the NBA switch their basketball?
In 2006, the NBA announced that they would be playing with a new basketball for the 2006-2007 season.  The ball was designed to have better grip, feel and consistancy of the current leather ball at the time.  This was the first time the NBA changed the ball in 35 years.  The ball had a different feel and design compared to the old 8 panel ball.  It has a microfiber composite  with moisture to give the dribbler a better grip on the ball during the game.  They said that the ball would need no break period.  Which is given to the leather ball.  Which mean that they sit the ball out for a quarter before they bring it back into play.  The new ball was designed to withhold a full game.  The new scientific developments made to the ball will increase performance and make the game better.  So you think?
The ball was changed back to the original leather ball because although it sounded greatly advanced, the ball was reported to be dull off the rim.  Shaq complained that the ball was like a ball you would buy for 5 dollars in a store and it had less air and din't bounce well.  Half way into the season the ball was changed because all the players agreed with shaqs claims.
