Why Blue Sky?

Have you ever just stared at the sky and wondered why it is blue? Well not all of you probably have, but I know I have done it. So here's what I found out about it..

There is a light from the sun that most people would claim is white. For example, when people claim they saw a the bright white light which led to them dying (or something like that). But this so called white light, is actually made up of all the colors of the rainbow.

So a prism is what the white light goes through, which ends up seperating the colors. The prism is basically a crystal ball.

Light energy passes in wave form. Some light travels in short, choppy waves and others travel in long, lazy waves. Blue waves are short and choppy but red waves are long and lazy.

Light travels in a straight line unless something gets in the way of it. On Earth, when the sunlight reaches the atmosphere, the light is scattered in all directions by all the things in the air.

Now the reason the sky is mainly blue, is because the blue light gets scattered more compared to all the other colors because of the fact that it travels in shorter waves.

But the more closer to the horizon you get, the more white the sky seems to be. Eventually, all that scattering in the sky will recombine the colors and make it white again.
