What Your Urine Tells You

The reason why we urinate is to get rid of the toxins in our body. Urea is something that is released when you pee, it is the by-product of what your body breaks down from the proteins you consume. If you do not pee, then there would be a build-up of toxins that are bad to your body and organs.

Your urine can tell you a lot of things, especially the color of it. The color of it can determine what you’ve been eating, how much you’ve been drinking, and whether or not you have a cancer or disease. (Source)

Urine gets its color from the urochrome pigment. “That color normally varies from pale yellow to deep amber, depending on the concentration of the urine. Darker urine is usually a sign that you're not drinking enough fluid.” The healthiest colors that your urine can have are clear or yellow. If your urine is very pale, it means that you are drinking a lot of fluid. If there is any blood or your urine appears cloudy, it may mean that you may have a bladder infection. (Source)

Holding in your urine creates a toxin that is bad for your organs. (Source) It can also cause pain and if you constantly do it, you can have a bladder infection. "…If you were to consistently hold on to your urine for too long it can cause long-term problems, so it's to be avoided," Dr. Malouf said (Source). If you hold your urine in for a long period of time, your bladder will stretch, causing a long-term effect. Holding it in increases the risk of urinary infections, kidney stones, and bladder stones.

Don't you wish you were a dog sometimes, so you could pee almost anywhere you want?

Why do we feel pain/discomfort when we hold it in?
“Bladder is a muscular sack that has a waterproof lining. It also has muscle and in the layers of the bladder are nerve fibres which feel pain. They feel stretching, so the more stretched the bladder is, the more painful it is."(Source)

Now, I have a question to ask you guys,
Do you also feel like after you hold it in for so long, you don’t need to urinate anymore?
Do you also feel the need to pee once you touch water?

  1. This is kind of an interesting fact that I heard: If you eat asparagus, your urine will have a stronger odor. However, only 40% of the people have the genes to smell that odor.
