Fastest Weight Gain
By: David Baffuto
There are many foods to choose from, but which food is the right choice?  Sure, you can eat that healthy apple or banana, but want if you want to eat something that tastes better or has something in it that you like.  Some food choices aren’t that good for you and your health though.  I would like to know: in what type of snack go you gain weight from the quickest?  I will be comparing three types of snacks/food.  These three foods are wheat thins, fruit snacks, and rice cakes.  Now, these foods all might seem like pretty healthy options, but we’ll find out which food gives you weight gain the quickest.  I believe the wheat thins will give you weight gain the quickest.  This is because wheat thins has the highest calories, fat, and carbohydrates.  Carbohydrate store energy, which is good, but too many of them are not so good for you.  These things are important to know because we will be able to effectively see what snacks to eat, or not eat.
There are some factors that I will be comparing to determine which snack gives you the most weight gain from eating it.  Some of the factors are: calories, grams of fat, and carbohydrates.  Let’s start with the wheat thins, which I believed will give you the most fat.  This was manufactured by Nabisco.  The serving size is 16 crackers.  The calories are 140, the grams of fat are 5, and the carbohydrate is 22 grams.  Next, we will look at the fruit snacks by Betty Crocker.  The serving size is 1 pouch.  There are 80 calories in a pouch.  Although, there are 0 grams of fat in this.  The carbohydrates are 19 grams.  Finally, we will look at the rice cakes.  This was made by Quaker.  The serving size is 18 minicakes.  The calories in this are 130.  There are 5 grams of fat.  The carbohydrates are 21 grams.  Now, I used these factors because these are what you gain lots of fat from.  It takes 3500 calories to gain 1 pound.  Also, 1 gram of fat equals 9 calories.  Also, carbohydrates store energy for short - term.  As we can see, wheat thins had the most calories, thus gain weight the most.  Wheat thins and rice cakes each had 5 grams of fat, or 45 calories.  Also, wheat thins had the most carbohydrates at 22 grams.  My hypothesis was correct, wheat thins is the snack out of the three that you gain weight the quickest from.  This is because it had the most calories, grams of fat, and carbohydrates.  The serving size is somewhat realistic.  16 crackers is a good amount.  Also, 18 minicakes is a lot, or as it seems.  Although, 1 pouch of fruit snacks is a very small amount.  I usually eat the stated amount for the crackers and rice cakes, but I usually eat more than 1 pouch of fruit snacks.  The calculations supported the product claims.  For example, it showed that the calories from fat were 0% on the fruit snacks, and there were 0 grams of fat.  The label said the snack contained a trivial amount of fats.  This was true.  Also, wheat thins showed the carbohydrate calories were 63%, and I found out that wheat thins had the most carbs.  Fruit snacks were 0% protein because there was no protein on the food label.  These calculations were in support of the numbers on the label.  As we can see, wheat thins give you the most fat.  My hypothesis was supported.
